Axel Desmedt is Jacques Steenbergen's successor as head of the Belgian Competition Authority.

The Belgian Competition Authority (BMA) has been looking for a new CEO since August 2019. 73-year-old Jacques Steenbergen was at the top of the BMA for 15 years and resigned last year.

Desmedt was previously Executive Board Member of the National Regulatory Authority (NRA) for Post and Telecommunications in Belgium and Media regulator in Brussels.
