Dentons has appointed Cedric Degreef as Partner and Head of its Energy group in Belgium. He will be based in Brussels and lead the further development of the firm’s energy practice in the Belgian market.

Degreef brings more than ten years of experience advising investors, banks and project developers on energy, utilities and infrastructure projects, with a focus on energy and climate law, environmental and administrative law, construction, compliance and litigation.

He joins Dentons from Osborne Clarke, where he was Counsel and Head of the Energy and Projects team in Brussels.

He is ranked as ‘Up and Comingfor Energy by Chambers Europe and is also a guest professor at the University of Antwerp, teaching energy and climate law.

According to Dentons, Degreef’s appointment supports the firm’s strategy to expand its capabilities in Belgium, particularly in response to growing demand for regulatory and transactional advice across the energy sector, including renewables.

Dentons has a strong Energy group across Europe, and I look forward to working with my new colleagues as we build the team here in Belgium”, said Cedric Degreef. “Joining Dentons also offers me the opportunity to draw on the knowledge of colleagues in other practices, such as Real Estate, Banking and Finance and Public Law, to provide end-to-end legal support for clients’ projects and transactions.”

Edward Borovikov added, “As Belgium continues its transition toward greater energy efficiency, security, and diversification, Cedric’s recruitment will allow us to address the increased demand from our clients for quality regulatory and transactional advice across all energy segments, particularly renewables.”
