Nico Bogaerts joins Smile Sail as Partner and Investment Committee Member

Smile Sail, the evergreen investment fund focused on supporting Europe’s leading software and AI-driven ventures, has announced the appointment of Nico Bogaerts as Partner and Member of the Investment Committee.

With over two decades of experience in the European B2B software sector, Nico Bogaerts brings a robust track record in strategic acquisitions and business development. He previously served as Head of M&A at SD Worx, where he led cross-border deals in HR and payroll, and as M&A Director at Wolters Kluwer, focusing on the Tax & Accounting sector. He also played a key role in scaling Basecone into a rapidly growing European financial SaaS company.

Smile Sail, founded by serial entrepreneur and investor Urbain Vandeurzen, targets high-potential B2B SaaS and IT companies operating in transformative sectors such as Healthcare, Industry 5.0, and Business & Financial Services. The fund aims to generate long-term value through both majority and minority investments, with an emphasis on data- and AI-powered innovation.
