Main driver of the acquisition is the innovative product Promyc®, a mycoprotein.

Naplasol specializes in the production of essential protein through fermentation technology. As part of the VEOS Group, they are one of the global leaders in the protein market.

On August 23, Naplasol announced the acquisition of the Swedish mycoprotein company Mycorena. With this acquisition, Naplasol will enhance its mycoprotein product portfolio. It will also produce Mycorena’s mycoprotein, Promyc®, at its industrial facility in Bree, Belgium.

The acquisition will enable Naplasol to offer a wider range of sustainable solutions for the food, pet food and feed industries.

Promyc®, a nutritious and sustainable mycoprotein
Mycorena develops innovative fungi technology to provide next-generation food ingredients. Its flagship product, Promyc®, is a nutritious and sustainable mycoprotein. The quality of Promyc® is unique in terms of its neutral taste and strong fibrous texture.

“Both companies, Naplasol and Mycorena, are active in the same field and have complementary knowledge and products of which we can benefit in the future”, says Wim Slee, co-CEO of VEOS Group.

“We are proud that we can continue the story of Mycorena, as we strongly believe in the future of mycoproteins. Mycoproteins are clearly a sustainable protein alternative, with a lower CO2, land and water footprint compared to other plant-based proteins”, continues Wim Slee.

"Mycorena has been on an exciting journey toward becoming a leading player in the mycoprotein industry. The acquisition and merger with Naplasol offer a unique opportunity to build on the foundation we have established. We look forward to seeing Mycorena continue to thrive under the strong industrial expertise of the Veos Group", says Ramkumar Nair PhD, Founder of Mycorena.
