Banyan Software broadens its Benelux presence with the acquisition of Geel-based educational software provider Questi.
The transaction marks Banyan Software's third takeover in Belgium, following its recent acquisition of healthcare nomenclature specialist Besco. Under the same buy-grow-and-hold-for-life model, Banyan plans to maintain Questi’s existing team while bringing the business into its tight-knit regional software network.
“The best software businesses enjoy a kind of loyalty that is hard to manufacture, and Questi has it,” elaborates Banyan M&A Lead for the Benelux, Jos Gritter, pointing out that schools trust the platform because it was built by professionals who lived the classroom dynamic:
“Our job is to protect that and build on it, keeping the team in place and bringing operating support and experience from across our education software portfolio to help Questi reach even more teachers so they can best support their students.”
Founded in 2012 by primary school teachers, Questi was built to streamline lesson planning and track student development, well-being, and care files while generating inspection-ready report cards. Operating across Dutch, French and English, the platform’s three connected modules (for teachers, parents and students) currently serve over 1,000 primary schools, 25,000 teachers and 300,000 students across Belgium.
“We started Questi with a simple belief: software for schools should focus on the children,” shares Lisa Van Houdt, Questi co-founder and CEO. She notes that after more than a decade in operation, the company reached an inflexion point: “We see opportunities that are bigger than we can pursue on our own. We were looking for a partner that would protect what makes Questi special, the very human, founder-accessible support our schools rely on and provide strong support with the various growth opportunities ahead of us. We found that in Banyan.”
Looking ahead, Banyan aims to leverage its international network and operational discipline to help the Kempen-based company expand its reach, connecting its platform to broader vertical capabilities.
