Belgian biotech company Augustine Therapeutics has appointed industry veteran Pascale Witz as Chair of its Board of Directors, shortly after securing a 78 million euros Series A financing round.
Witz, a seasoned life sciences executive with over 30 years of industry experience, has held senior roles at Sanofi and GE Healthcare, and currently serves on the boards of Fresenius Medical Care, Revvity, and Regulus Therapeutics.
Her appointment comes as Augustine transitions into a clinical-stage company, developing therapies targeting the HDAC6 enzyme to treat neuromuscular, neurodegenerative, and cardio-metabolic diseases.
Witz said the recent funding round reflects strong investor confidence in Augustine’s scientific approach. “The company is well-positioned to develop innovative medicines for patients suffering from debilitating diseases”, she added.
The 78 million euros Series A round will support Augustine's growth and advance its pipeline of HDAC6 inhibitors into clinical development.
