Half of the dismissed Van Hool employees in Koningshooikt are back at work.

Three months after Van Hool's bankruptcy and restart, approximately 1,240 former employees have found work again.

This is reported by the Flemish employment agency VDAB.

On April 8, bus builder Van Hool closed its books. 2,403 people in Belgium lost their jobs. All former employees were offered guidance in looking for a new job. VDAB works together with Hura, SBS and Travvant.

This resulted in approximately 1,240 former Van Hool employees to have found work again 3 months after the bankruptcy. Almost half of them are over 50. The majority (82 percent) have a contract of indefinite duration. Almost 18 percent work via interim. Several hundred people have already been able to get back to work at the two companies that took over parts of Van Hool, GRW and VDL.

"Our approach and that of our partners works. This very good result proves that," says Bjorn Cuyt, provincial director of VDAB.
