According to the Bloomberg news agency, Generali is interested in Ageas.
It is clear that Assicurazioni Generali is not only looking in Belgium. Bloomberg talks about half a dozen insurers that the Italian is looking at. The British Aviva Plc, the sixth largest insurance group in the world, is also mentioned as potential takeover candidates. The Dutch insurer NN is also on the wish list, Bloomberg reports.
Last week it emerged that the insurer Ageas is interested in British sector peer Direct Line. It now appears that Ageas itself could become a takeover target.
