Scandinavian IT group Visma has acquired a minority stake in Accountable, a Belgian fintech company specializing in smart accounting and tax solutions for self-employed professionals.

De Tijd reports this.

While financial details were not disclosed, Visma expressed its intention to fully acquire the start-up in the future.

Founded in Brussels in 2017 by Nicolas Quarré, Alexis Eggermont, and Hassan Ayed – joined later by Tino Keller – Accountable serves over 26,000 clients in Belgium and Germany.

Its mobile-first platform allows freelancers and sole proprietors to manage their taxes, invoicing, banking, and accounting in collaboration with professional advisors, often assisted by AI tools.

Visma CEO Merete Hverven states that the investment aligns with the company’s ambition to expand its presence in Belgium and Germany. “With Accountable, we’re enhancing our offering of intuitive business software for self-employed professionals, removing pain points and administrative burdens”, she says.

Despite the investment, Accountable will continue to operate independently with its current team. This marks Visma’s fifteenth acquisition in Belgium, underscoring its strategic push into the region’s software market.
