Tank transport specialist VERVAEKE, active in the chemical, petroleum, and gas industries, today announces the acquisition of French transport company Transports Bertout, based in Nesle.
This acquisition aligns perfectly with VERVAEKE’s long-term strategy to strengthen its presence in the French market. Daily operations at Transports Bertout will remain unchanged, and managing director Francis Bertout will initially stay involved to support the integration.
Like VERVAEKE, Bertout specializes in the transport of hazardous materials, with a strong focus on the same product segments. The acquisition therefore represents a logical and strategic expansion of VERVAEKE’s existing offerings. For Bertout, the transaction ensures a sustainable future perspective, guaranteeing the continuity of the company.
The acquisition confirms VERVAEKE’s ambition and reinforces its position in the French market. “For our customers, continuity is crucial”, says Francis Bertout. “By joining VERVAEKE, we are consciously choosing a strong industrial group that shares our values and will secure the future of our business, our employees, and our activities in the long term.”
Bertout’s fleet currently includes 20 trucks running entirely on biofuel (B100), achieving a CO₂ reduction of up to 60 percent. This commitment aligns with VERVAEKE’s sustainability strategy, which actively invests in alternative propulsion, including hydrogen.
Following this acquisition, VERVAEKE achieves consolidated revenues of 175 million euros and now operates a fleet of over 800 trucks, more than 1,100 tankers, and over 900 tank containers.
“This acquisition is a perfect match between two companies that prioritize quality”, says Frédéric Derumeaux, CEO of VERVAEKE. “Bertout shares our expertise in transporting hazardous materials, uses high-quality and modern equipment, and has experienced drivers from the region. Moreover, this step strengthens our capacity in the French market, sending a strong signal to our customers.”
