Belgian ICT group VanRoey has acquired Sonical, strengthening its position as an established managed ICT services provider.
The transaction marks VanRoey’s entry into West Flanders and further deepens its expertise in Microsoft applications, managed services and data-driven processes.
Sonical, based in Oostkamp, supports mid-sized and large organisations in their digital transformation, with a strong focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and managed services.
The company will continue to operate from its current location at the O-Forty site along the E40. Co-CEO Olivier Laloo, 15 employees and co-shareholders Frédéric Goossens and Dana Gheorghe will all join VanRoey as part of the deal.
With the acquisition, VanRoey expands its geographic presence beyond Antwerp and Limburg into West Flanders, while also strengthening its application offering.
Sonical adds specific expertise in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, enabling VanRoey to better serve larger organisations within the Microsoft ecosystem. The group also gains additional sector know-how in wholesale and distribution, growing its applications team from around 40 to 60 consultants.
According to Joachim Lauwers, CEO of VanRoey, the acquisition fits squarely within the group’s long-term strategy. “Sonical is a complementary player that aligns perfectly with our vision of sector-driven digitalisation within the Microsoft ecosystem. Their expertise in business applications and managed services significantly strengthens our application practice and helps us guide customers more effectively in adopting AI and data-driven processes”, he said.
Sonical sees the move as a logical next step in its own growth story. “We share the belief that technology only creates real value when it is aligned with a customer’s processes and sector context”, Laloo noted. “Becoming part of VanRoey allows us to offer broader expertise and support, while maintaining our local presence, people and way of working.”
Following the acquisition, VanRoey employs more than 250 people and generates annual revenues of around 80 million euros. Sonical brings a client portfolio of 60 to 70 organisations across various sectors, including Azelis, Karel de Grote University College, Spraying System Europe and Cophana. The deal follows VanRoey’s acquisition of Group K last summer and supports its ambition to become the leading Belgian reference in managed ICT services.
