Belgian food logistics specialist Sitra Group has acquired German peer Marlep Tanklogistik, marking another step in its ambition to become Europe’s leading food transporter.
De Tijd reports this.
The deal adds around 30 million euros in annual revenue and strengthens Sitra’s presence in Germany, bringing the group’s turnover to more than 300 million euros. Sitra ultimately aims to grow to 500 million euros in revenue in the coming years.
Founded in the early 1960s as a local carrier in Zonnebeke, Sitra has evolved into a European player active in 12 countries. Growth has accelerated in recent years following the entry of private equity firm Creafund, with acquisitions including Ricotto in Italy, Abbey Logistics in the UK and Albert Keijzer in the Netherlands.
Marlep Tanklogistik fits squarely within Sitra’s core niche of transporting temperature-controlled liquid and powder-based food ingredients.
