U.S. agribusiness giant J.R. Simplot Company has finalized its acquisition of Clarebout Potatoes, Belgium’s leading producer of frozen potato products. The deal, previously announced, marks a major expansion of Simplot’s global potato processing operations.
With the addition of Clarebout’s five production sites, Simplot now operates 23 manufacturing facilities worldwide, strengthening its position as a global leader in frozen potato processing.
Headquartered in Boise, Idaho, Simplot is a privately held family company active across the food and agriculture sectors. Its portfolio spans food processing, consumer brands, fertilizer production, phosphate mining, agriculture, and livestock operations, with major sites in nine countries.
Clarebout, based in West Flanders, is one of the world’s top three producers of frozen fries, exporting to over 120 countries. The company will retain its workforce and production sites under Simplot’s ownership.
Simplot stated that the acquisition supports its long-term growth strategy and enhances its presence in Europe’s highly competitive potato processing market.
