Ravical offers domain-specific AI agents for use in accounting, legal services, HR, and insurance companies

The Ghent-based start-up Ravical has raised 7.3 million euros in pre-seed funding to develop domain-specific AI agents that can support Dutch service providers with expertise in accounting, insurance, HR, and legal affairs. The funding round was led by European venture capital investor Lakestar.

Ravical was founded by serial entrepreneur Joris Van Der Gucht, who previously, in 2023, successfully built and sold the Belgian company Silverfin – a leading platform for accounting automation – for 320 million euros.

Ravical provides AI agents that combine domain-specific knowledge with business intelligence and customer insights. These ‘virtual employees’ can automate up to 80 percent of operational tasks in professional services, allowing (human) experts to focus on the strategic 20 percent that generates profit and strengthens client relationships.

Joris Van Der Gucht, CEO of Ravical: “We don’t believe AI will replace service companies, but 80 percent of the work in these businesses is ripe for AI automation. We offer AI agents that deliver high-quality digital services, while respecting a company’s culture and accumulated knowledge.”

An industry facing two challenges: finding talent and productizing expertise
The business services sector is currently facing two major challenges: attracting and retaining top talent, and transforming internal know-how into scalable services. Ravical addresses both issues.

The ‘war for talent’ is making it increasingly difficult for companies to hire and retain qualified staff. This leads to labor shortages, poorly maintained customer relationships, and loss of expertise. Ravical’s trained AI agents provide a solution to this challenge.

At the same time, Ravical enables the ‘productization’ that many service providers have long aimed for, by turning in-house expertise into ready-to-use services. “Productization is a challenge for many companies in the Dutch service sector”, says Joris Van Der Gucht. “Our AI agents can solve this almost overnight by automating professional services. This frees up employees to focus more on adding value and providing strategic support, opening up new opportunities for business growth.”
