Belgian food giant Puratos has expanded into the education sector with the acquisition of the prestigious Parisian culinary school, École Bellouet Conseil.
This strategic move aligns with Puratos’ commitment to fostering innovation in the bakery, patisserie, and chocolate industries.
A culinary institution with a strong legacy
Founded in 1989 by Gérard-Joël Bellouet, a former professor at the renowned Lenôtre school, and Jean-Michel Perruchon, ex-assistant pastry chef at Fauchon, École Bellouet Conseil has trained over 6,800 high-level professionals from more than 100 countries.
The school is widely respected for its expertise in patisserie, viennoiserie, and chocolate, offering both professional training and technical consultancy for businesses.
Puratos, which operates in dozens of countries and employs approximately 10,700 people worldwide, has pledged to maintain the heritage and high standards of the institution. École Bellouet Conseil will continue to function independently, ensuring its legacy and expertise remain intact.
Puratos’ growth through acquisitions
With a revenue of 3.1 billion euros in 2023, Puratos has been expanding its global presence through strategic acquisitions. The company’s previous acquisition was Italian industry peer Finardo Dario in 2023. The latest deal further solidifies Puratos' dedication to supporting craftsmanship and excellence in the baking and patisserie sector.
