PolySto Group acquires Hydewa in private equity-backed add-on

post-title

Belgian hygienic interiors specialist PolySto Group has acquired German FRP panel manufacturer Hydewa, marking another step in the group’s buy-and-build strategy following the investment by Sofindev in 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Although communicated as a “strategic partnership,” the companies will operate under a single holding structure — a strong indicator of a change-of-control transaction typical of private equity-backed platform expansions.

Hydewa brings established positions in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Austria, alongside decades of expertise in fiberglass-reinforced polyester panel systems for controlled environments such as food processing and cold storage. The acquisition strengthens PolySto’s geographic footprint and expands its technical capabilities in high-spec hygiene solutions.

Both companies will retain their brands and operational autonomy, while Hydewa’s leadership is expected to transition gradually to a new generation of management — another hallmark of an add-on acquisition.

The deal positions the combined group as a scaled European player in the niche but growing hygienic interiors segment, where tightening regulation and food safety standards continue to drive demand. With private equity backing and a clear platform strategy, further bolt-on acquisitions could follow.
