Poland’s Suempol acquires Belgium’s largest shrimp supplier Van Biesen & Pieters

post-title

Polish smoked salmon producer Suempol has acquired Van Biesen & Pieters, Belgium’s largest supplier of grey shrimp, marking a return to its roots in shrimp processing.

Family-owned Van Biesen & Pieters, based in Sint-Gillis-Waas, supplies peeled shrimp to wholesalers in Belgium and the Netherlands, serving restaurants, caterers, and food processors.

The company sources its catch through contracted vessels and manages the full chain from transport to packaging and export.

Suempol, founded in 1989 and considered Poland’s oldest smoked salmon business, has expanded across Europe since 2010 through acquisitions in the UK, France, and Germany. The takeover strengthens its portfolio and reconnects the company with shrimp, its original trade.
