PGS Group enters Italy with strategic acquisition of Beretta Pallets

European pallet specialist PGS Group has expanded its European footprint into Italy through the acquisition of Beretta Pallets, a long-established family-owned company based in Mapello, near Bergamo in the Lombardy region.

The deal marks a new milestone in PGS Group’s international growth strategy and reinforces its ambition to strengthen its presence in Europe’s key industrial hubs.

Founded in 1920 by Luigi Beretta, Beretta Pallets has nearly a century of industrial expertise. The company became a pioneer in pallet manufacturing in the 1960s and has operated since 2011 from a strategically located 23,500 m² site in Mapello, close to Milan and Brescia, with 6,000 m² of industrial facilities.

Following the acquisition, PGS Group will fully integrate Beretta Pallets’ activities, covering both the production of new pallets and the reconditioning of used ones, including standard and custom-made solutions.

The group has already launched significant industrial investments at the site. Two new production lines, drying kilns and a paint booth are scheduled to become operational from March 2026, tripling annual production capacity to around 1.5 million pallets.

The Mapello site also offers room for further expansion. Valerio Ruspino, director of Beretta Pallets, will lead the further development of PGS Group’s activities in Italy. The current team of 15 employees will remain in place and is expected to grow over time.

“Italy is a logical and strategic choice for PGS”, says Luc Grauwet, CEO of PGS Group. “Lombardy is a particularly strong industrial region, and many of our international customers are already active there. Beretta Pallets stands out for its expertise, loyal customer base and strong family values, which align perfectly with those of PGS.”
