The European core and edge colocation provider Penta Infra, along with Photon Capital, has acquired the Nexus data center campus in Brussels from Ghelamco.

This acquisition enhances Penta Infra’s presence across 11 cities in 5 countries, aligning with its expansion strategy.

The Nexus data center, located in the Green Energy Park in Zellik, Brussels, opened last month. It features a nine-storey design, powered by 12.5 MVA of renewable energy and providing 7.2 MW of IT load.

The facility offers various power-density modules and will host the VSC Flemish Supercomputer. It is notable for its sustainability, utilizing 100 percent renewable power, a photovoltaic facade, rainwater cooling, and a thermal smart grid for heat reuse.

Bob Sprengers, CEO of Penta Infra, praised the facility's sustainability and strategic location in Brussels, a key European data hub. Michael Gheysens, Ghelamco's Managing Director Belgium, highlighted the innovative and sustainable design of the data center, expressing confidence in its role as a model for future developments and its compatibility with Penta Infra’s green initiatives.
