Ontex Group NV, a global leader in personal care products, has finalized the sale of its Brazilian business to Softys S.A. Softys, a personal hygiene company operating across Latin America, is a subsidiary of Empresas CMPC S.A., based in Chile.
This sale includes Ontex’s business in Brazil and its manufacturing facility in Senador Canedo, Goiás.
The business produces and sells baby diapers and pants under the PomPom, Cremer, Sapeka, and Turma da Mônica brands, as well as adult care products under the Bigfral brand. Around 1,400 employees are part of this transition.
Gustavo Calvo Paz, CEO of Ontex, states: “This step allows us to focus on growing our retailer brands and healthcare business in Europe and North America. The sale proceeds will also help us reduce our debt, strengthening our financial position. I believe Softys is well-equipped to lead this business forward, supported by our talented team.”
Ontex received 81 million euros in net cash proceeds after deducting transaction costs, taxes, hedging expenses, and balance sheet adjustments. Additionally, 18 million euros will be held in escrow. The funds from the sale will be used to further reduce Ontex’s outstanding financial debt.
