Pet store chain Tom&Co takes over Pharmapets, the largest online pet pharmacy in Belgium.
With the acquisition, the retailer is significantly strengthening its e-commerce activities in Belgium, but also in other European countries.
Pharmapets was founded in 2018 by Fun co-founder Sven De Waele and veterinarian Valerie Vanderlinden and is now being acquired by Tom&Co, which is strengthening its e-commerce segment. However, the founding couple remains shareholders.
The company experienced strong growth thanks to an innovative business model with an emphasis on services, including veterinary consultations or the creation of personalized health plans. Meanwhile, around 50 percent of turnover already comes from subscriptions.
Until now, the e-commerce company was owned by the two founders, the management and the investment fund Mitiska. Now Tom&Co will be the new owner, writes De Tijd. The acquisition means a significant strengthening of the online activities of the pet store chain.
