Minitab acquires Effex to revolutionize design of experiments with AI and advanced optimization

post-title

Minitab, LLC, a global leader in data analytics and process improvement, has acquired Effex, a cutting-edge design of experiments (DOE) and optimization platform and spin-off from KU Leuven.

This acquisition enhances Minitab’s DOE capabilities by integrating Effex’s proprietary designs, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based tools, enabling organizations to achieve superior process optimization and operational excellence.

Effex is renowned for its OMARS® (Orthogonal Minimally Aliased Response Surface) designs, which combine screening and response surface methodologies to deliver better modeling, higher prediction accuracy, and clearer effect estimation all with fewer experimental runs.

By incorporating Effex into the Minitab Solution Center™, Minitab will offer a unified platform for experimentation, data management, and advanced statistical analysis, empowering users to make data-driven decisions faster and more efficiently.

“This acquisition solidifies Minitab’s leadership in DOE solutions”, said Jeffrey T. Slovin, President and CEO of Minitab. “By blending classical DOE with Effex’s modern, AI-driven approaches, we’re enabling customers to unlock deeper insights, optimize processes, and drive better business outcomes in complex environments.”

The integration will provide users with access to advanced design algorithms, extensive design catalogs, and AI-powered recommendations for selecting optimal experimental models.

The combined strengths of Minitab and Effex will accelerate the development of next-generation DOE capabilities, benefiting industries such as automotive, aerospace, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing. This strategic move underscores Minitab’s commitment to making advanced statistical analysis practical and accessible, helping organizations solve problems faster and with greater precision.
