DGN is known for comparison websites EnergieKiezer and DeGoedkoopsteNotaris.
The Belgian publisher Mediahuis, the company behind newspapers such as De Telegraaf and NRC, aims to acquire online platforms like ZorgKiezer, EnergieKiezer, and DeGoedkoopsteNotaris. To achieve this, the company is taking over DGN Group, the firm behind these comparison websites.
According to a statement, DGN helps more than 4 million consumers annually in comparing and making financial decisions. The company has been in existence for a quarter of a century and employs 35 people. The acquisition by Mediahuis is expected to enable the company to enter its next phase of growth.
Mediahuis finds DGN appealing as it allows the company to expand its presence in the comparison market. Previously, the group had already acquired the Irish platform Switcher.ie, which specializes in price comparisons for energy, broadband, loans, and mortgages.
The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed. According to Mediahuis, the deal is still subject to regulatory approval. Peter Ruys, the founder of DGN, will remain associated with Mediahuis as an advisor.
