Materialise NV (Euronext & NASDAQ: MTLS), a pioneer in 3D-printed medical devices and additive manufacturing software, has announced a strategic move to transfer its eyewear business to its management team.
The decision aligns with Materialise’s goal to streamline its portfolio and concentrate resources on its core focus areas, such as medical and industrial 3D printing solutions.
While Materialise will retain a minority stake in the newly formed eyewear company, the transfer allows both the eyewear division and its Rapidfit unit to operate independently, positioning them for their next phase of growth. All employees currently supporting the eyewear business will transition to the new entity. Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, though the company expects to recognize impairment charges in the second quarter of 2026.
This divestment underscores Materialise’s commitment to sharpening its strategic focus, ensuring sustained innovation and growth in its primary markets.
