Belgian entrepreneur Marc Coucke has acquired Ice of Queens, a Limburg-based company that builds and restores ice cream carts, expanding his growing ice cream ventures.
Marc Coucke, known for his diverse investments, has taken over Ice of Queens, a Maasmechelen company specialising in converting vans into promotional and ice cream trucks. Founded by Giovanni Donati, the firm is also renowned for its collection of vintage ice cream carts—an asset that particularly appealed to Coucke.
The acquisition follows Coucke’s earlier purchase of Glacier de la Poste in Knokke. While specific plans for Ice of Queens remain undisclosed, the vintage carts are expected to appear in Pairi Daiza and Durbuy, two major Belgian tourist attractions in which Coucke is heavily invested.
Financial terms of the deal were not revealed. Ice of Queens has faced two loss-making years, reducing its net loss from €85,000 in 2023 to €29,000 in 2024. Despite this, the company maintains a solid financial base with €436,000 in equity and minimal debt.
It is unclear whether Ice of Queens will be integrated into Coucke’s new coastal holding, ZouteCoucke, which already includes Glacier de la Poste, the Enso District Hotel in Knokke, and potentially the Zoute Grand Prix. Coucke paid €1.87 million for his 50% stake in Glacier de la Poste.
With this acquisition, Coucke strengthens his foothold in the leisure and tourism sector, blending his passion for lifestyle ventures with strategic assets that enhance his existing portfolio.
