Canadian pension fund plans to sell stake in Brussels Airport and other European airports.

The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), the largest private shareholder in Brussels Airport, is reportedly seeking to sell its stakes in several European airports.

According to The Times, OTPP aims to capitalize on the post-pandemic recovery in air travel, with the portfolio's estimated value exceeding 12 billion euros.

Apart from its 39 percent stake in Brussels Airport, OTPP holds significant interests (ranging from 25 percent to 70 percent) in London City, Birmingham, and Bristol airports in the UK, as well as Copenhagen Airport in Denmark.

The Canadian fund had previously sold a small portion of its Brussels Airport shares just before the COVID-19 outbreak, though specific details remain undisclosed.

While OTPP is the primary private investor, the Belgian federal government retains a 25 percent stake in Brussels Airport, with the Flemish government holding a minor indirect interest.
