Dutch home furnishings group Homefashion Group is exploring a sale of its Kwantum retail chain, following last week’s news that its Belgian Leen Bakker stores are up for sale.
The move is part of what insiders describe as a “rescue operation” for the financially troubled group, according to reporting by Het Financieele Dagblad.
Homefashion Group, owner of both Leen Bakker and Kwantum, declined to comment on the sale process. Together, the two retailers operate around 300 stores and employ 2,600 staff across the Netherlands and Belgium, selling furniture, flooring, and bathroom products.
Corporate turnaround specialist Rob Schuyt has been brought in since spring to stabilize the chains. He confirmed the challenging financial situation but stressed that “all options are on the table” to restore viability, including restructuring, cost measures and potential divestments.
The timeline and scope of potential sales or layoffs remain uncertain, leaving the future of both banners – and their Belgian operations – in question.
