Fitness chain Jims, owned by Colruyt Group, has acquired NRG and its 40 clubs.
With this acquisition, Jims is effectively doubling its footprint to 80 locations and securing its position as Belgium's second-largest fitness provider. Over the next year, NRG clubs will be rebranded under the Jims name, aligning with Colruyt Group’s goal to make health and fitness more accessible.
This acquisition accelerates Jims' growth ambitions. “We gain several years on our planned trajectory and double in size instantly”, says Pieterjan Nuitten, Jims’ business unit manager. The expansion bolsters Jims’ reach, particularly in Flanders, enabling the chain to support more people in their pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
The deal also facilitates scaling initiatives like nutritional coaching, pre- and postnatal programs, and collaborations with healthcare providers. Jims plans to integrate seamlessly with Colruyt’s other offerings, such as the Sportprofieltest with Collect&Go.
NRG’s 180 employees will join Jims, with training opportunities through the Jims Academy. Both chains complement each other, with minimal overlap in locations and a similar focus on affordability and community. Aziz Allali, NRG’s CEO, expressed pride in NRG’s growth and optimism for its future within the Colruyt Group.
The transaction was finalized on December 10, 2024, with financial details undisclosed.
