Belgian coffee group House of Coffee is accelerating its international expansion with the acquisition of Dutch peer Café Salento and a strategic partnership with private equity fund Down2Earth Capital III (D2E).
The move positions the company as a leading coffee player in Belgium and the Netherlands, combining heritage brands with a buy-and-build growth strategy.
House of Coffee, led by CEO Tom Arts and backed by investor Roots Transition Partners, operates two established Belgian brands: Succes Koffie (founded 1888) and ROM (founded 1967), known for premium coffee beans and service excellence.
With the addition of Café Salento – a Dutch coffee provider with strong national coverage, particularly in government and healthcare sectors – the group now manages over 4,000 coffee machines across the Benelux. In 2025, House of Coffee reported consolidated revenues of 22 million euros, offering end-to-end solutions from machine leasing to maintenance and coffee supply.
"With D2E as our partner, we aim to create a benchmark coffee group in the Benelux by uniting strong local brands", said Tom Arts. "Our shared values – transparency, pragmatism, and a focus on quality – will drive our mission to deliver exceptional coffee experiences everywhere."
Café Salento’s integration expands the group’s footprint, adding a reputable Dutch brand with deep institutional client relationships.
Regis De Preter of Down2Earth highlighted the market opportunity: "The Benelux coffee sector is fragmented, offering clear consolidation potential. House of Coffee’s commercial strength, high customer retention, and diversified client base provide a solid foundation for growth. Café Salento’s national reach and reputation make it a perfect fit."
Lotte Van de Mierop of Roots Transition Partners added: "Since our investment in 2024, we’ve aimed to build an international coffee group. This acquisition marks a key step in that vision."
The partnership combines House of Coffee’s operational expertise with D2E’s financial backing and Roots’ strategic support, setting the stage for further acquisitions. The group provides full-service coffee solutions, including machines, beans, accessories, and maintenance, targeting businesses, hospitality, and retail. With a fragmented market ripe for consolidation, the collaboration aims to create a quality-driven Benelux coffee leader.
