Belgian healthtech start-up BiometrIQ has raised 1 million euros in fresh capital from prominent tech and sports entrepreneurs, including Eva Maertens and Teamleader founder Jeroen De Wit.

The funding will help accelerate the company’s mission to make data-driven nutrition advice more accessible and expand its operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, and beyond.

BiometrIQ, founded in 2020 by Pieter Josson and Tijs Engelrelst, connects professional dietetic expertise with cutting-edge technology. Its platform gives dietitians real-time insights into clients’ health, allowing them to offer highly personalized advice powered by data from wearables, sensors, and lab analyses.

“Obesity is one of the biggest health threats in Europe, and if nothing changes, 70 percent of Belgians will be overweight or obese by 2050”, says CEO Pieter Josson. “We believe the solution already exists – professional nutrition guidance – but it’s still underutilized. BiometrIQ bridges the gap between data and expert advice to help more people make sustainable changes.”

Currently, more than 330 dietitians use BiometrIQ’s platform, supporting around 24,000 clients in Belgium and the Netherlands. The technology also helps practitioners save time on admin and routine follow-ups, allowing them to focus on delivering impactful guidance. “Our tools give dietitians professional superpowers: more time, more insight, and more impact”, adds co-founder Engelrelst.

The company is also forging partnerships with health insurers, HR providers, and corporate wellness programs to broaden access to its services. “We’re seeing strong results in energy, focus, and productivity – not only for individuals but for employers too”, says Josson.

Investors Maertens and De Wit are backing BiometrIQ for its focus on prevention and scalable impact. “We invest in innovation that contributes to a healthier society. BiometrIQ combines human advice with technology in a way that works”, they said in a joint statement.

With the new funding, BiometrIQ plans to enhance its AI tools, improve user experience, and prepare for international expansion. The company also aims to drive greater engagement in corporate health, where it sees rising interest in preventive care.

“Europe is just starting to catch up with markets like the U.S. when it comes to proactive health strategies. We want to help accelerate that shift and reduce the societal costs of unhealthy lifestyles”, Josson concludes.
