Greenyard, a major player in the fresh produce industry, responded to an article published today in the Belgian newspaper De Standaard, which suggested that the company was considering the acquisition of The Fruit Farm Group.
Greenyard issued a statement clarifying that there is currently no news or updates regarding any potential merger or acquisition.
The De Standaard article claimed that Greenyard’s leading figure, Hein Deprez, was interested in bringing The Fruit Farm Group under Greenyard's control, particularly the plantations the entrepreneur had to sell off in 2020. However, Greenyard's official statement has refuted these claims.
The Fruit Farm Group, founded in 2014, specializes in growing and exporting a variety of fruits, including grapes from Brazil, fresh produce from Southern Africa, and cherries and figs from Turkey. The company also exports citrus fruits and blueberries from Uruguay.
