Belgian investment company Gimv has taken a minority stake in Quality Guard, a fast-growing Belgian software provider specialising in digital food safety and compliance management.

The investment aims to support Quality Guard’s European expansion and consolidation strategy in the food tech sector.

Founded and led by Wim and Achile Van Gierdegom, Quality Guard offers a SaaS platform that automates the management of HACCP, allergens, and food safety standards.

The company serves more than 5,000 customers across Belgium, the Netherlands, and France – ranging from local food retailers to large-scale kitchens – and integrates its system with IoT devices for real-time monitoring and compliance.

With Gimv’s backing, Quality Guard plans to accelerate commercial growth, expand in key markets, and pursue strategic acquisitions to build a leading European platform in food safety compliance. The Van Gierdegom family will remain majority shareholders, while Gimv joins as a strategic minority investor. Financial details were not disclosed.

“Together with Gimv, we have developed a clear and ambitious growth strategy”, says co-CEOs Wim and Achile Van Gierdegom. “Their entrepreneurial mindset and operational expertise will help us scale internationally and deliver more value to our clients.”

Gimv’s Consumer team, represented by David De Peuter and Laurens Boriale, highlights the company’s strong market position and scalability. “Quality Guard addresses a key challenge in foodservice and retail with a solution that brings efficiency and peace of mind”, they say. “We see significant potential for expansion across Europe.”
