Gimv sells Joolz to Bugaboo, laying the foundations for a global premium stroller powerhouse

post-title

Belgian investment firm Gimv has announced the sale of its stake in Dutch high-end stroller brand Joolz to fellow Dutch company Bugaboo, a global leader in premium juvenile products.

Together with Joolz founders Emile Kuenen and Stan Vermeulen, Gimv exits after nearly a decade of helping shape Joolz into a globally recognized brand known for quality, design, and sustainability.

Since investing in 2016 through its Consumer platform, Gimv played a key role in accelerating Joolz’s international growth, expanding its footprint to over 60 countries across Europe, the US, and the APAC region.

The sale to Bugaboo brings together two strong, complementary brands, forming a group of 1,200 employees headquartered in Amsterdam, and offering an unrivalled portfolio in the global stroller market.

While Bugaboo and Joolz will continue to operate independently, the combination will enhance innovation, broaden international reach, and drive growth through shared values in consumer-centric design and sustainability. For Gimv, this marks a successful exit from a brand that has flourished under its stewardship — a clear example of how Belgian private equity can leave a lasting international impact.
