Ghent-based start-up Alkmist has secured 1.8 million euros in funding to expand its audit management platform and enter new sectors.
The company, founded in 2023 by Mathias Celis and Toto De Brant, combines computer science with behavioral psychology to give auditors and their clients a centralized, automated overview of the audit process, from planning to approval.
Alkmist’s platform is already used by more than 5,000 users and operates on a licensing model, charging companies per internal user while allowing unlimited access for external users. The firm currently employs seven people.
The investment round was led by Network Venture Partners, the investment company of Willem Dumon and Frederik De Witte, with additional backing from executives at hospitality group Lighthouse, including Ivo Minjauw, Peter De Moor, and Eva Metsu.
With the fresh capital, Alkmist plans to expand beyond audits into accounting, finance, insurance, tax, and legal services, as well as develop AI-powered agents to automatically check, link, and retrieve documents.
