Ghent University spin-off OnTracx has secured 1.2 million euros in seed funding to advance its wearable sensor and digital platform that help runners and health professionals track and manage biomechanical load.
The round included backing from the imec.istart Fund, PMV, KBC, business angels from Belgium and the Netherlands, and a VLAIO innovation grant.
Founded in 2023, OnTracx has developed a lightweight sensor worn on the lower leg to measure cumulative load on tendons, muscles, and joints – a key factor in overuse injuries.
Since launching in April 2024, the startup has sold over 500 sensors and partnered with 20 sports medical centers.
The fresh capital will support product refinement, international expansion, and preparation for entry into the European and U.S. markets.
“Most runners just want to keep running – whether for health, performance, or enjoyment”, says CEO and co-founder Senne Bonnaerens. “Understanding hidden loads is an important step toward that.”
