steute Technologies, a global leader in medical and industrial switching solutions backed by U.S.-European investor Battery Ventures, has acquired Oldelft Ultrasound, a Dutch pioneer in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) probes.
The deal marks steute’s strategic expansion into advanced cardiac imaging technology, strengthening its position as a critical supplier to global medical device manufacturers.
Oldelft Ultrasound, headquartered in Delft, is the world’s only independent developer of high-performance TEE probes, serving all major OEMs in cardiovascular ultrasound.
With over 30 years of expertise, the company is renowned for its miniaturized probes, including the world’s first 4D mini TEE probe, used in pediatric diagnostics and real-time interventional cardiology.
Under Smile Invest’s ownership since 2019, Oldelft accelerated innovation, transitioning from 2D to real-time 3D imaging and expanding its long-term technology roadmap.
Martin Kunz, CEO of steute Technologies, stated: "Oldelft brings exceptional cardiac imaging expertise and deep OEM relationships, significantly enhancing our Meditec division."
Oldelft’s leadership, including CEO Erwin Dumay, emphasized the strategic and cultural fit, enabling accelerated growth and expanded global reach.
Smile Invest, which supported Oldelft’s milestones like the 4D TEE probe launch, praised the transaction as a natural next step for the company’s future.
