Brussels-based holding company Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL) is acquiring a majority stake in Dutch traffic management specialist BUKO Group for 500 million euros.

BUKO, a market leader in temporary traffic solutions, has rapidly expanded from a national player to a leading European company over the past three years, with operations in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, and Sweden.

With over 1,000 employees across four countries, BUKO executes thousands of projects annually for contractors and governments, generating around 230 million euros in revenue.

The company offers a full range of services – from design and planning to implementation and management of temporary traffic measures – supplemented by digital solutions.

Recent acquisitions, such as Road Traffic Solutions and BVT Bremer Verkehrstechnik, have further strengthened BUKO’s European presence. CEO Robert Emmerich emphasizes that the company’s signature “BUKO Way of Working”, centered on safety, craftsmanship, and customer focus, will remain core to its growth strategy.

BUKO plans to continue its expansion through a ‘buy-and-build’ approach, targeting both existing and new European markets. With GBL as a partner, the company aims to accelerate this growth while investing in professionalization and building a unified European brand.

Christian Mogge of GBL expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting significant growth opportunities in the sector. The deal remains subject to approval by competition authorities.
