A group of investors from Kempen has acquired Galaxy Studios in Mol after its 2023 bankruptcy, aiming to build on its world‑class recording legacy.
Galaxy Studios—founded in 1982 by brothers Guy and Wilfried Van Baelen—went bankrupt late in 2023 under an €8 million debt burden, costing ten jobs. The Mol complex, famed for hosting artists from Rammstein and Kendrick Lamar to dEUS and Will Tura, has now been snapped up by a consortium of Kempen investors led by entrepreneur Wim Buyens, formerly of Barco. Financial terms remain undisclosed.
The new owners plan to complete the long‑planned hotel, office space and event venue, and to widen the site’s appeal to film and gaming sound productions.
Subject to customary approvals, the takeover ensures Galaxy Studios will continue its expansion, reinforcing Belgium’s status on the global audio and media production map.
