Backed by 30 Dutch and Belgian families and an institutional investor

BlueMill, a newly established Dutch private equity firm, successfully closed its inaugural fund at 75 million euros in January, exceeding its target in just three months.

The fund is supported by 30 Dutch and Belgian families alongside an institutional investor, with the BlueMill team contributing 15 percent of the capital.

Founded by Thomas Wals – who serves as Managing Partner – BlueMill builds on Wals’ experience as the founder and former CEO of MKB Fonds (established in 2012).

The firm targets companies with an EBITDA of 3 million euros to 10 million euros, deploying investments ranging from 4 million euros to 18 million euros per transaction.

With a portfolio strategy of 6 to 7 investments, BlueMill will partner with entrepreneurs to facilitate phased succession planning for founders or family-owned businesses.

Investments will often include an active buy-and-build approach, focusing on companies headquartered in the Netherlands, Belgium, and German-speaking countries.
