The Flemish tech firm IE Group, a key player in radar systems with half of its revenue coming from the defense sector, has been acquired by French investment company IDI.

Founded in 1983, IE Group includes the divisions Intersoft Electronics, Intersoft Services, and Advionics. The company develops and implements advanced radar systems for civil and military use, counting major clients such as Eurocontrol, Raytheon, Thales, and Hensoldt.
The group, employing nearly 400 people – including 80 in R&D – has seen strong growth in recent years, supported by investment firm Waterland since 2019. Annual revenue has surpassed 60 million euros, boosted in part by strategic acquisitions like German firm IBS Luftfahrt.
IDI, a long-standing French private equity investor listed on the stock exchange, is acquiring a majority stake from Waterland.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The management of IE Group will remain involved as the company enters this new phase of international ownership.
