New York‑based Evercore has agreed to buy London’s elite M&A boutique Robey Warshaw for $196 million, reinforcing its European foothold and adding five high‑profile dealmakers to its ranks.
Evercore will pay the equivalent of nearly $40 million per partner to bring Sir Simon Robey, Simon Warshaw, Philip Apostolides, George Osborne and Chetan Singh into its fold. Since its 2013 founding, Robey Warshaw has advised on marquee transactions such as AB InBev’s £79 billion bid for SABMiller, SoftBank’s £24 billion acquisition of Arm and LSEG’s $27 billion purchase of Refinitiv. Last year the boutique generated £86 million in revenues, distributing roughly half its profits directly to partners.
According to the Financial Times, the acquisition underlines Evercore’s ambition to narrow the gap with bulge‑bracket banks in Europe. With around 400 bankers across nine European countries post‑deal, Evercore aims to serve Belgian corporates seeking cross‑border M&A expertise, combining local market knowledge with London‑grade advisory. Evercore’s CEO John Weinberg called the deal “a catalyst” for further continental expansion, following recent hires such as Citigroup veteran Luigi de Vecchi.
