EQT Future has agreed to acquire a majority stake in DESOTEC, the Roeselare-based leader in circular mobile filtration solutions. The deal will see EQT take control from Blackstone-managed funds, which will retain a minority share. German family offices Athos and Merckle will co-invest alongside EQT.
Founded in 1990, DESOTEC provides mobile activated-carbon filtration systems used to remove pollutants such as VOCs, PFAS and hydrogen sulfide from air, water and soil. Its circular ‘Filtration-as-a-Service’ model, combining filter rental, logistics and in-house carbon reactivation, has helped the company build a fleet of mobile filters serving more than 2,000 customers across Europe and North America.
EQT and Blackstone plan to support DESOTEC’s geographic expansion, particularly in North America, where the company launched operations in 2023 and where demand for circular and compliance-driven filtration solutions is rising. Growth opportunities also remain in several underpenetrated European markets.
EQT Future partner Andreas Aschenbrenner said the firm sees ‘significant potential’ to scale DESOTEC’s platform and help industries operate more sustainably. CEO Mark Thys said the new partnership will enable DESOTEC to accelerate international growth and continue innovating its circular model. Blackstone, which first backed DESOTEC during its expansion into the US, will remain involved as a minority investor.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
