Elia Group has announced a successful private placement of 850 million euros as part of a broader 2.2 billion euros equity package to finance infrastructure investments, ensure grid reliability, and support the competitiveness of renewable energy.

The private placement, known as a PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity), involves key investors, including ATLAS Infrastructure with The Future Fund, BlackRock, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), and Elia Group’s reference shareholder, Publi-T/NextGrid Holding. The proceeds will be used to support the group’s investment strategy through 2028.

ATLAS and The Future Fund will invest 234.6 million euros, BlackRock and CPP Investments each 117.3 million euros, while Publi-T/NextGrid Holding will contribute 380.7 million euros to maintain its 44.79 percent stake. Following this private placement, a 1.35 billion euros rights issue is planned by the end of April 2025, completing the targeted capital increase.

Elia Group CEO Bernard Gustin emphasized that the transaction strengthens the company’s financial position, ensuring it can execute its investment plans to enhance Europe’s energy infrastructure resilience.

The equity package will fund key projects, including offshore wind connections and cross-border interconnectors, supporting Europe’s transition to sustainable energy. The commitment from investors, who have pledged to exercise their rights in the upcoming share issuance, underscores strong confidence in Elia Group’s strategic direction.
