French charging network leader Electra has raised €433 million in bank financing to accelerate its rollout of 15,000 ultra‑fast chargers across Europe, reinforcing its position in Belgium with over 700 charging points at 113 locations.
Electra’s new financing comprises a €283 million term loan and a €150 million accordion facility from a consortium of Dutch and French banks, adding to the over €1 billion raised since its 2020 inception. The group plans to deploy 15,000 400 kW chargers at 2,200 European sites by 2030, having already installed 500 stations with 3,000 plugs.
In Belgium, Electra leads the fast‑charging market with 706 points across 113 locations, outpacing Tesla and Fastned. A landmark framework with Delhaize will bring 1,800 chargers to supermarket car parks, and agreements with Quick, Burger King and Colmar will further boost coverage.
Louis‑Charles Mosseray, CEO of Electra Benelux, says the company’s focus on 400 kW public chargers and its reservation feature have driven rapid uptake. He expects 140–150 Belgian sites to be operational this year, aiming for every Belgian to find a snellaadpaal within a 10‑minute drive.
