Deminor, a Belgian legal support firm specializing in litigation funding, has raised €100 million in a significant capital increase to expand its operations. This new funding round, led predominantly by American investors and supported by Belgian business figures such as the Emsens family and investor Jos Sluys, marks a substantial boost compared to its earlier fundraising efforts.
Founded in 1990, Deminor has grown into one of Europe’s leading firms in litigation support, focusing on aiding institutional investors—including insurers, asset managers, and pension funds—in complex legal battles.
The company, which does not operate as a traditional law firm, provides both financial backing and strategic expertise in legal disputes.
While its core clientele has shifted toward larger financial players, Deminor maintains a commitment to supporting smaller investors, reflecting its origins. “Helping individual shareholders remains part of our identity”, says Erik Bomans, CEO of Deminor Litigation Funding.
The firm’s involvement in high-profile cases such as the Arco dispute and the Fortis settlement, one of Europe’s largest class-action settlements at 1.3 billion euros, underscores its influential role in investor litigation.
