Companion.energy, a software platform enabling large industrial and commercial enterprises to manage energy in real time, has raised 7.8 million euros in a seed funding round.
The round was led by Realyze Ventures (Germany) and Pi Labs (UK), with participation from Asterion Ventures (France) and existing investors.
The company has seen rapid growth over the past year, expanding its customer base and revenue tenfold and surpassing 1 million euros in annual recurring revenue.
Companion.energy now serves over 30 enterprise clients across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, including TotalEnergies, KPN, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Interparking, and Proximus Group.
Its platform manages more than 2 TWh of annual energy consumption and production, representing approximately 500 million euros in annual energy spend and revenues.
A Shift in energy management
European energy markets are undergoing a structural transformation. As renewable energy penetration increases and industrial demand electrifies, electricity markets are becoming more volatile and operationally complex. Energy prices, once predictable on a seasonal basis, now fluctuate in real time.
Thomas Vyncke, co-founder of Companion.energy: "Most companies still manage this environment with fragmented tools, spreadsheets, and static procurement processes. They need a system that continuously runs and optimizes energy operations."
The new funding will focus on enhancing the platform’s multi-asset, multi-market optimization capabilities and expanding commercially across Europe, starting with Germany and Spain.
