The Terhills battery park is acquired by Centrica to boost its green power portfolio.
Centrica, a leading player in energy solutions, has strengthened its green energy ambitions with the acquisition of an 18 MW battery storage project in Belgium from LRM, a sustainable venture capital firm.
The Terhills battery park, located in Lanklaar/Dilsen-Stokkem near the Dutch-Belgian border, has been operational since April 2018. For six years, Centrica has managed the site's operations, optimizing the batteries for grid flexibility and generating solid returns for LRM. Now, Centrica has taken full ownership as part of its strategy to scale investments in renewable and flexible energy solutions.
As part of its virtual power plant in Belgium, Centrica integrates the Terhills site with flexible energy loads and industrial customer generation, bolstering grid reliability and supporting renewable energy growth.
