Brantsandpatents has strengthened its Benelux intellectual property platform with the acquisition of Merk-Echt, a leading trademark practice in the region.
With the addition of Merk-Echt, Brantsandpatents further positions itself as an integrated IP partner in the Benelux, combining its established patent expertise with expanded capabilities in trademarks and brand protection.
Merk-Echt is known for its efficient, client-focused and innovative approach to trademark law. The combination brings together two firms with a shared ambition to deliver high-quality, forward-looking IP services in an increasingly international market.
Merk-Echt’s managing partners, Philippe Hoefsmit and Olivier Hoefsmit, will remain with the firm and continue to lead the trademark practice within the group, ensuring continuity for clients.
According to Johan Brants, the transaction is both a strategic and cultural fit. “This step enables us to support our clients across the entire Benelux even more effectively across the full spectrum of intellectual property”, he said.
Clients of Merk-Echt will retain their existing points of contact and personalised service, while benefiting from additional expertise and scale in trademark services.
