Belron, the British parent company of Carglass and the world’s largest vehicle glass repair and replacement group, is preparing for a blockbuster initial public offering (IPO) in Amsterdam.
The company’s valuation is expected to exceed 30 billion euros, according to sources cited by the Financial Times.
This move follows earlier reports that Belron was considering Amsterdam or New York for its stock market debut, with the Dutch capital now confirmed as the preferred location.
A significant portion of Belron – over 50 percent – is owned by D’Ieteren Group, a Belgian conglomerate renowned for its automotive import and distribution activities.
The remaining shares are held by other investors, including the US private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. D’Ieteren Group’s involvement underscores the Belgian connection at the heart of this high-profile IPO, positioning Belgium as a pivotal player in one of Europe’s most anticipated public listings in recent years.
Founded in South Africa, Belron operates in over 40 countries across six continents, employing approximately 30,000 people and serving 17 million customers annually. Its portfolio includes Carglass, the UK’s Autoglass, and the US-based Safelite. Despite its British headquarters, the company’s deep ties to Belgium through D’Ieteren Group highlight the cross-border collaboration driving its global success.
A landmark European IPO
The Financial Times suggests that Belron’s IPO could rank among the largest European listings in years, potentially taking place before the end of 2026. However, a final decision has yet to be announced. With annual revenues of 6.7 billion euros in 2025, Belron’s market debut is poised to attract significant attention from investors worldwide, further cementing the influence of Belgian and European stakeholders in the global automotive services sector.
