Following the acquisition of Cofinimmo, Aedifica's portfolio would total 12 billion euros.
The Belgian healthcare real estate investor Aedifica intends to acquire its industry peer and fellow Belgian company Cofinimmo. Both companies invest in facilities such as care homes, including in the Netherlands. By joining forces, they aim to strengthen their positions in markets where they are already active and expand into new countries, according to Aedifica.
Aedifica is making a share-based offer equivalent to a price of 80.91 euros per Cofinimmo share. This represents more than a 20 percent premium compared to the share price before Cofinimmo's stock saw a sharp increase on Wednesday afternoon and was eventually suspended from trading on the Brussels stock exchange. This would value Cofinimmo, also based in Belgium, at nearly 3.1 billion euros.
Aedifica’s real estate portfolio is valued at 6.1 billion euros, including 673 million euros in Dutch properties such as senior apartments and nursing homes. Cofinimmo holds 6 billion euros worth of healthcare real estate, office buildings, and hospitality properties. Its Dutch portfolio is worth 487 million euros.
